Interesting 3-wheel car trivia about Bullet.

They built more cars that Elio.

Actually, no.

Elio’s made, as far as I can tell, nine chassis. P1/P2 (they’re the same car), P3, P4, P5, E1A, E1B, E1D, E1E, and E1C.

Now, production cars... yeah, no, Elio’s not made any.

I meant to say that Bradsey sold eight.

Also, I didn’t know that Elio had that many pre-production cars. I thought they were focusing all their effort on this hail mary effort to change three-wheeler laws.

To be fair, that hail mary effort is working , so even when Elio fails (because let’s be real, Elio’s going to fail), it’ll make things easier for someone else bringing a three-wheeler.

In some states, IIRC, it even helps Morgan and Polaris. (Elio’s legislative push was mainly for three-wheeled cars with roofs, but AFAIK some states didn’t have a roof requirement in their autocycle legislation.)

It must be working, since I learned the other day at lunch that Virginia has multiple MC endorsements.

We were all sitting around, and someone talked about how their “M2" endorsement was better than a “M3.” I have had a “M” endorsement for almost 30 years, and I looked at him like he was crazy.

I had no idea that you could be resticted to two wheels, and not be eligible to ride a trike. I’m going to have to read more into this because I was under the impression that there were still just TWO classifications. M or no M.

Is there a different safety course for M3, or is it the same two wheeled course? If you have taken the two wheeled course, why would you only want a M3? Not that you reminded me of that remembering that conversation I had the other day, I am curious.

I had no idea states were starting to roll over and treat trikes differently than motorcycles. Now I’m curious how deep it goes. Are trikes still eligible for carpool lanes and parking in motorcycle spots?

—edit—

It was July 2013 when they started this. I had no idea.

Elio’s lobbying is to create an additional class of vehicle, the “autocycle”, which has some of the safety requirements of cars, and can be operated on a car license, but also some of the requirements of motorcycles.

So, a three-wheel motorcycle (Can-Am Spyder, one of the Harley trikes, or a sidecar) may have different requirements and privileges than an autocycle (Elio).
